| MLK Celebration 2012 January 12 – 16, 2012 MAKING THE DREAM COME TRUE
"Life's
most persistent and urgent question is, “What are you doing for others?”
Martin Luther King, Jr. Each year, Americans across the country answer that question by coming together on the King Holiday to serve their neighbors and communities. The MLK Day of Service is a part of United We Serve, the President's national call to service initiative. It calls for Americans from all walks of life to work together to provide solutions to our most pressing national problems. We are having several community events including the NAACPP March and Rally, America's Sunday Supper, and Community Service Day. We are also having an Essay/Oratorical
and Art Contest for the youth in our service area during our MLK Celebration. We
will present a scholarship and cash prize for the winners. For more information or to enter the contest, please contact Stefanie
Shackelford, Executive Director at (662) 268-7774 or you may email me at Stefanie@volunteerstarkville.org. |
