Emily Durr, Making An Impact in Her Community

Emily Durr

Emily Durr is still in high school, but you would never be able to guess it from her determination and passion. During the past year, she has started to volunteer at Brick Fire Afterschool Program where she is able to foster relationships through tutoring and playing with the children. She also extends her volunteerism at her church where she leads the children’s program as well as tutor the children.

As an active member of the community and a native of Starkville, Emily feels it is important to give back to the community. “I have been so fortunate and blessed by the opportunities I’ve been given,” Emily said. “I hope to improve and enrich the lives of others through volunteering with the gifts I have been given.”

Emily is currently a student at Starkville High School. “While I am still young and energetic, I want to give back as much as possible.” Her passion also comes from her desire to live a more impactful life. “Volunteering makes my years of high school more meaningful.”

Emily has lived in Starkville her entire life, and she is thankful for the community. Volunteering an average of five hours per month, Emily has volunteered over 50 hours of service in the past year. We are thankful for energetic youth like Emily who see the value of giving back!
