Volunteer Newsletter: August 8, 2017

Do you want to volunteer as a mentor? Are you already volunteering as a mentor but not exactly sure how or what to do? Volunteer Starkville is hosting a community mentor training on Thursday, August 31, 2017 from 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM at the GSDP Board Room (3rd Floor). This mentor training will feature several local mentor experts that will cover a wide range of mentoring topics. Once you have participated in this training, you should have the knowledge and resources to go forward, volunteer as a mentor, and achieve a successful relationship with your mentee!

The mentor training will cover such topics as “Need for Mentors in Our Community”, “Benefits of a Mentorship”, and “Principles of Effective Mentoring”. See the Volunteer Starkville website for a full list.

Each training participant will receive a Starkville Community Mentor Guidebook as well as dinner! Also, each participant will complete a Mentor Interest Sheet so Volunteer Starkville can match you with a nonprofit in need of mentors that best align with your interests! To register for the mentor training, email Kauthar Gaber at
