Volunteer Newsletter: February 13, 2018

Arts and culture are incredibly important because they’re what allow us to connect with other people. And connecting with other people allows us to open our minds to new ideas and build a stronger community. Help make your community stronger by supporting these current and upcoming arts and culture volunteer opportunities! (Click on the opportunity name to learn more about them.

Magnolia Film Festival 
Do you love movies? Do you want to help your community see productions from filmmakers around the world? Help the Mag celebrate 20 years by volunteering with them March 1st – 3rd! Volunteers are needed to help with transportation from GTR. Times will vary. Gas and a van will be provided. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old. Volunteers are also needed for setting up reception and take down reception/after party (must be 21+ for party), setting up registration table and fest table, and handing out programs at festival. Oktibbeha County Heritage Museum
The Oktibbeha County Heritage Museum is operated solely by volunteers and they are in need of several volunteers to help staff the museum’s reception desk one afternoon a month. They are looking for individuals who would be able to commit to one afternoon each month on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday from 1:00 – 4:00 PM. International Fiesta
The 28th International Fiesta is April 7th on the MSU Drill Field from 11 am and continues to 3 pm. A great day with international groups getting together for entertainment, music, flag parade, cultural displays and native food. Help is needed to plan the event and the day of the event (April 7) to help with children’s activities, set-up, take-down, carry flags, and participate in the planned events. The Cotton District Arts Festival
The Cotton District Arts Festival blends incredible art, music, and food into a showcase event. The festival hosts over 125 artisans, the Writer’s Village, Taste of Starkville restaurant competition, Pet Parade, and Student Art Competition. This huge, one day event would not be possible without our amazing volunteers. They are looking for 100+ volunteers to help with the Arts Festival! They
ask all volunteers to commit to at least 1 hour for any program, and at least 1.5 hours for CDAF. Volunteers must sign up through the link below: www.memberplanet.com/s/starkvilleart/volunteer
